TQUK Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (QCF)

Regulated 6 hr in the classroom

This regulated qualification is ideal for those already working or preparing to work within industry wishing to become an Emergency First Aider in the workplace for the purposes of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (NI) 1982 and subsequent changes including the 2016 guidelines.

The recommended course duration is 1 day and topics covered include; the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency First Aider, assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness and assisting a casualty who is suffering from injury and illness. The qualification is assessed via on-going oral and/or written questioning and practical demonstration.

The minimum contact hours for this qualification, excluding breaks should be for a minimum period of 6 hours over 1 day as a classroom course.. In May 2016 the HSE and Awarding Organisations announced that computer based blended training is now allowed for all workplace first aid courses.

All successful students will be issued with an TQUK Emergency First Aid at Work (QCF)Certificate, along with a wallet-sized plastic card detailing their achievement. The HSE dictate, that to be valid in the workplace, learners must retake the Emergency First Aid at Work qualification before expiry of 3 years from the date that the original qualification was achieved. The HSE state that the full Emergency First Aid at Work qualification must be taken again to be valid in the workplace.

All our first aid courses fully meet the UK and European Resuscitation Council Guidelines 2015 as per the HSE requirements. The HSE strongly recommend that all first aiders complete an annual first aid refresher courses and our online course meets this requirement.

Please be advised that the classroom course has a minimum age requirement of 16.

Assessment

Assessment of this qualification is by Portfolio of Evidence and Practical Demonstration/ written multiple choice test at the end of the training, which is quality assured by TQUK. All assessment criteria must be met.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. However, learners should be able to work at level 2 or above. They must be physically capable of completing the practical activities involved.

Progression

Learners who achieve the TQUK Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (QCF) can progress to the TQUK Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF).

Certification

This qualification lasts for 3 years. To renew their qualification after 3 years, delegates will need to retake the full course. However, it is recommended that, during the 3 year period, delegates attend annual refresher courses.
